Making 2017 the Best Year Yet

Making 2017 the Best Year Yet

Happy New Year! 2016 sure was a whirlwind of a year, wasn’t it? I can’t believe how much happened, especially in my own life. I’ve seen fellow bloggers share their experiences over the last year, and what they look forward to next.

I won’t lie. I don’t know what will happen to me this year; I have numerous goals I want to accomplish, but I’m like many young adults out there. And I'm okay with that.

Where do I start?

I asked that question many times over the last two years. When I was finishing my degree, I wondered what kind of job I wanted. Then I thought, wait a second, how do I even start looking for a job? Once I found one, I was so anxious to move on up, to be labeled an “expert” in PR and marketing. It was the ambitious nature within me coming out in full force.

After college, it was important to me to find a hobby, a passion. Around November 2015, I was asking the same old question, where do I start? Should I pick up an old hobby? I liked painting, poetry, and music when I was a kid. Should my career help me make new friends? Should it help advance my career?

These were all valid questions. Ultimately I decided I wanted a hobby that would help my creativity thrive, and I wanted to be continuously learning. I don’t remember the exact moment that I decided what I wanted to do, but I was very intrigued by graphic design and web development. That's the moment in time where I realized I wanted to create my own website and start a blog

Use your passions to help you grow.

For me, having a creative outlet was the best option to help me learn, develop my skills, and have fun while doing it. I’m so glad I explored the wonderful world of blogging. Perhaps someday I will make a business or career out of it, but for now, I’m happy that it’s helping me enhance my career and giving me something worthwhile to do.

Growth could have more than one meaning for you. Maybe you want to build confidence. Maybe you want to make new friends because you’re away for college or you started a job in a different city. Maybe you want hone your PR skills. Whatever it is, discover it, set some goals for yourself, and start achieving them!

Take your passion, and set forth.

Be risky; go out of your comfort zone. Network with other people that share your interests. Get your name out there. Make friends with people that will encourage you to pursue your dreams.

2017 is going to be a great year for creative entrepreneurs, PR professionals, digital content creators, and goal-oriented millennials. I’m so excited to see what’s in store!
