My Process

My Process

A clear, no-fluff process for turning small businesses into brands people remember.

You’ve put real work into your business. But if your online presence doesn’t reflect that — potential customers won’t find you, or worse, they’ll trust someone else who simply has a better website.

Below is the exact process I use to transform a tired website (and the brand around it) into something that actually works for your business — without spending your life on Instagram or juggling three different vendors.

One creative. Four phases. Zero handoffs.

01

Inquiry & Fit Check

The first conversation.

  • You reach out through the contact form. I respond within 1–2 business days with a quote and next steps.
  • If you’d like, we hop on a free 30-minute discovery call to make sure we’re a good fit — no pitch deck, just a conversation.
  • If we’re aligned, I send over your contract and invoice to secure your spot. I’m typically booking out 2–3 months in advance for full website projects.

WHY IT MATTERS  ·  No endless back-and-forth emails or vague proposals. Just a clear, transparent onboarding so we can both decide quickly whether this is the right partnership.

02

Discovery & Strategy

Deep dive into your business.

  • You’ll fill out my Brand & Business Questionnaire so I fully understand your offering, your audience, and what’s actually working (and what isn’t).
  • About 2–4 weeks before your project starts, we have a strategy call to walk through everything I need from you and how we’ll position your business.
  • You’ll walk away with a clear project plan covering site architecture, photo direction, content priorities, and any homework on your end.

WHY IT MATTERS  ·  A pretty website means nothing if it doesn’t strategically position you. This step ensures every photo, page, and post is built around what makes you findable and memorable.

03

Build & Capture

Where the magic happens.

  • I design 2–3 key pages first so we’re aligned on look and feel before I build the entire site. No surprises at the end.
  • If your project includes photography, we schedule the brand or product shoot at this stage so the imagery and the design are designed for each other.
  • Once approved, I build out the full site, integrate all branding and copy, and you get two rounds of refinements to make sure it’s exactly what you envisioned.

WHY IT MATTERS  ·  Most freelancers either design the site or shoot the photos — never both. Doing both means the photos actually fit the layouts they’re going into, not the other way around.

04

SEO & Mobile

Optimize for the way people actually use your site.

  • I conduct full on-site SEO so your site ranks for the keywords your real customers are searching, not vanity terms.
  • Every headline, meta description, and image alt-text is optimized so Google actually favors your content.
  • I personally test the site on multiple devices because most of your traffic will be on mobile — and a slow phone experience kills conversions.

WHY IT MATTERS  ·  SEO and mobile-first design are what separate a website that’s an expensive business card from one that’s actually generating leads while you sleep.

05

Launch & Training

Hand it over with confidence.

  • We launch your brand-new website together — I handle the technical pieces so nothing breaks, and you focus on telling people about it.
  • You get a personal walkthrough video showing exactly how to update content, add blog posts, swap photos, and make small edits yourself.
  • I’m available for 30 days of email support after launch in case you hit any snags or want to tweak anything — at no extra cost.

WHY IT MATTERS  ·  You’ll walk away empowered, not confused. No mystery tech headaches, no panicked DMs about how to update a phone number. Just a site you actually own.

06

Optional · Ongoing

Keep going. If you want to!

  • Want to keep me on board? I offer monthly retainers for social content creation — short-form videos, photos, and captions that show up consistently.
  • I also handle blog management and site maintenance for clients who’d rather not touch the back-end (I do this for two clients going on six years now).
  • No long-term contracts. Month-to-month, cancel anytime. Stay as long as it’s working.

WHY IT MATTERS  ·  A website is alive — it needs fresh content, security updates, and an actual reason for people to come back. Most clients who stay on retainer say it’s the best decision they made.

Quick answers before you ask.

Most full websites take 4–8 weeks from kickoff to launch, depending on scope and how quickly you can turn around feedback and content. Photo and social packages run shorter; ongoing retainers are month-to-month.

Two rounds of refinements are baked into every web design project. That covers small tweaks (copy changes, color adjustments, swapping images) and larger structural changes within reason. Bigger pivots — like reworking an entire page or rebranding mid-project — are billed separately so the original timeline doesn’t blow up.

I can help you set up hosting and a domain if you don’t have them yet — I usually recommend BigScoots for managed WordPress hosting because their support is excellent. You’ll own everything in your own name from day one. I never own your domain or your hosting account, even if I’m building the site for you.

WordPress with the Kadence theme. It’s flexible, fast, and easy for you to update yourself once we hand it off. No proprietary platforms that lock you in.

I don’t design logos from scratch, but I do work with whatever brand assets you already have — refining how they’re used across your site and content so everything feels consistent. If you need a fresh logo or full brand identity, I can recommend a few designers I trust and we’ll coordinate from there.
