How to Create a Virtual Assistant Portfolio

Are you hoping to acquire virtual assistant work? A lot of potential clients will want to see your work while they consider hiring you. With this guide, you’ll learn how to create a virtual assistant portfolio that will help you stand out from the crowd.

Having a portfolio that’s readily available will make your life a whole lot easier when you’re looking for work. When you work from home, a digital portfolio is a game changer, especially if you have little to no experience yet.

How to Create a Virtual Assistant Portfolio

Here is a step by step guide on creating your own virtual assistant portfolio. Feel free to use my online portfolio for inspiration.

Define who you are

These days, a virtual assistant can cover a whole scope of services and tasks. There are administrative tasks, marketing tasks, design tasks, and so much more.

With your portfolio, make it clear what your top services are, whether it’s project management, copywriting, graphic design, social media ads, etc.

Narrow Down Your Best Work

When you create a portfolio, the most important thing you want to show potential clients is results. Show them how you’ve helped past clients grow their business with your help.

Here are a few examples to help you out:

  • Copywriter: share writing samples that helped increase your client’s ranking on Google or helped them get new leads on their email list because of a landing page that you wrote
  • Graphic designer: share before/after screenshots of your clients Instagram profile and how your graphics helped boost their engagement
  • Project management: give potential clients an idea of how you’ve helped past clients save time and get projects done more quickly and efficiently through your work

Whatever your services are, find a way to track the data. If you manage social media accounts, track the performance data over time. If you’re a project manager or administrative assistant, keep track of the hours you work and what you accomplish in that amount of time. If you’re a graphic designer, share how your work has helped a client grow their social media accounts, email lists, bring more brand awareness to their website, etc.

List Your Tech Skills

Most virtual assistants work from home so it’s also important to make it clear what you’re efficient in. There are plenty of tools and softwares out there. And truthfully, potential clients will like to see that you’re an expert at using several of them.

List the tools that you feel you are proficient in. You don’t want to give anyone the wrong idea that you are really good at something when you only have limited experience.

In my portfolio, I list the tools that I use every single day: Google Docs/Google Sheets, WordPress, Canva, and Flodesk.

Create a Page on Your WEbsite

If you have a website, this is the best place to share your work! Not only will this help you get some website traffic on your own domain, but it makes things really easy for potential clients to check out your services and contact you.

Don’t have a website yet? No problem! Personally, I think the next best option is using a Canva template.

Make Your Portfolio Accessible

After you publish your portfolio, make sure it’s easy to find! Include the link on the header or footer of your website. Share it in your Instagram bio. Make sure it’s easy to find on your Facebook business page and/or personal profile.
